Some background:
Dr. Malone is a very popular spokesperson for the resistance against medical tyranny; his widely-followed blog is here. I’m a paid subscriber so comment there often. I had great respect for Dr. Malone.
Dr. Desmet is a psychologist promoted by Dr. Malone who wrote a book, “The Psychology of Totalitarianism,” referencing the psychology of what happened during Covid-19. I have some familiarity with Dr. Desmet’s ideas and have his book, which I’ve only partly read.
Dr. Breggin is a psychologist who wrote “COVID-19 and the Global Predators: We are the Prey,” a book I’ve read. This book explains the long, ongoing planning involved in attempting to create a global police state, such as unfolded during Covid-19.
Christopher Langan is a “genius” with a metaphysical theory of where humans are headed and the dangers we face. I don’t know much about this theory as I was immediately turned off by Langan’s support of a “benign” eugenics and of something called “White Well-being,” a version of white grievance. I don’t support making racial divisions, particularly in an environment when such divisions are linked to notions of white supremacy: bad publicity, to say the least. The man strikes me as creepy; see for yourself.
Dr. Malone wrote a substack in support of Mr. Langan. Initially somewhat interested, a reader alerted me to Langan’s eugenics stance and from there I found more material and frankly, I couldn’t believe that Dr. Malone was promoting him.
Dr. Malone has been called controlled opposition: someone who is really working for the global police state, I suppose. I have no comment on that and for now, I believe he’s a good, honest person but his parsing of philosophical issues is perhaps not on a par with his medical acumen.
But my opinion of Dr. Desmet has changed, and it seems to me now that Dr. Breggin, who attacked Desmet early on, is quite correct in his assessment. It seems that Desmet, too, is confused about larger philosophical issues regarding the relation of the individual to the state and the mechanisms of power and control.
Here is Breggin’s take on Desmet. It’s a worthy read.
My view at this time is that Malone was wrong to promote Desmet and he should have acknowledged Breggin’s quite valid objections. Malone was very wrong to promote Langan.
Who is Robert Malone? (title of his substack,) indeed.
Thanks for this esp the link to Breggin’s article. I liked their book and found this a valuable add on to my understanding of their argument.
Although overall I’ve been impressed with Malone’s scientific knowledge and ethical outlook, it’s hard to rule out that he’s a part of a limited hangout psyop pitched at a sophisticated audience. The Langan piece and the Trumpism are fine for a conversation over a beer but given the current political environment they serve to harden the impression of liberals that the vaccine skeptics are enemy yahoos.
